The EPN Pen is the world's first medically certified device which combines the benefits of dermal needling with Electroporation.
Microneedling stimulates the body's natural collagen production by generating a wound healing response. The production of new collagen and elastin helps to thicken and plump up the skin.
Electroporation is a technique which increases the skins' cell membrane's permeability, allowing active ingredients to be introduced to the cells more effectively. The cell walls then heal themselves, trapping the active ingredients in.
The serum used during the treatment contains hyaluronic acid, 5 growth factors, 12 vitamins, 25 amino acids, 5 minerals and 4 coenzymes.
Microneedling and electroporation can also be used for hair regrowth. By infusing the scalp with growth factors, skin proteins and vitamins designed to nourish and stimulate the scalp and hair follicles, for fuller and healthier looking hair.
Microneedling involves using a derma stamp pen or derma roller (derma roller not recommended - see blog). It is a simple procedure using ultra fine needles to wound the skin.
There will be some redness and mild swelling for 1 - 2 days. You may have slight bruising and tiny blood spots, but they will disappear within 1 - 2 days. You will notice your skin feels slightly rough for a few days, but after a week your skin will be smooth and radiant.
This depends on the treatment intensity. If you have a low pain threshold, numbing cream can be used to minimize the sensation.
Yes, microneedling is safe for all skin types and colours.
Redness, minor swelling, bruising and tiny blood spots are all expected side effects which subside after 24 - 48 hours.
Due to the tiny punctures in your skin, it will be more sensitive to the sun, so you must use a broad-spectrum SPF 50.
Your skin can be more sensitive when applying topical products. For 48 - 72 hours following your treatment, avoid products with alcohol and active ingredients such as retinoids, AHA's and BHA's.
Instead, use a mild cleanser, hydrating serum, and noncomedogenic moisturizer. Don't exfoliate, use chemical peels or scrubs too soon after treatment.
Good aftercare can make a real difference to your results.
Because the skin is technically being wounded, microneedling should be performed in professional sterile settings. The derma rolling devices you can buy to use at home have smaller needle lengths, but they are difficult to clean, which if used in an unsterile state could easily cause bacterial skin infections.
