Treatments
Fractional laser resurfacing dramatically improves skin texture, providing total rejuvenation for a smooth, youthful and glowing appearance.
Fractional is one of my most popular treatments, my clients are absolutely loving the dramatic, but completely natural results they are getting.
The fractional laser creates micro spots of superficial ablation on the top layer of the skin (the epidermis). The heat produced in the epidermis spreads down into the dermis, and stimulates our fibroblasts. This starts the wound healing response which in turn stimulates significant collagen renewal.
The surrounding non-treated areas of skin aid the body's natural recovery process, allowing dramatic results without significant downtime.
When carried out by a highly qualified and knowledgeable professional, resurfacing or fractional laser is a safe way to dramatically improve your skins appearance naturally, while shortening recovery time and reducing the risk of side effects, when compared to a fully ablative laser treatment.
Erythema (redness), minimal swelling and some flaking are all expected outcomes of the treatment. Pigmentation changes are very rare and usually temporary. This can be minimised by avoiding sun exposure and using a broad-spectrum SPF such as Lynton Light Protect SPF.
A warm, heating is felt during treatment and mild stinging. The skin will feel 'sunburnt' post treatment. Cold packs or wet gauze can be applied to alleviate any discomfort.
As there is no melanin absorption at this wavelength, fractional resurface is suitable for use on all skin types. However, there can be a risk of Post Inflammatory Hyper Pigmentation (PIH) on darker skins, but there are measures that can be taken to minimise that risk.
There are some medical conditions and medications which can contra-indicate or delay treatment.
An initial consultation will be filled out to ensure your suitability for treatment. Pre-treatment photos and a patch test will be carried out 1 week prior to your 1st treatment.
On your 1st treatment, the skin is cleansed.
Eye protection goggles applied.
The laser handpiece is then moved over the skin, delivering the micro spot laser beams.
The treatment will take 15 - 45 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.
After treatment, the skin is cooled if necessary.
Yes, laser resurfacing and fillers or Botox can be used together, not at the same time though. There needs to be a gap of at least 2 - 3 weeks between treatments.
